Improving the control of Diabetes Mellitus type 1 (insulin dependent) and type 2 (non insulin dependent), gestational Diabetes, Diabetic Neuropathy, Diabetic Neuritis and Diabetic Retinopathy. A Diabetic Foot Ulceration Clinic is run in collaboration with the Surgery Department and Pedology.

Treatment of Endocrine Diseases includes weakness or overworking thyroid gland, high blood pressure due to adrenal gland disorder, calcium imbalance related to Osteoporosis and hormonal disorder in women (excess hair).

The Hospital provides treatment of Metabolic Diseases such as high cholesterol, triglycerides and high uric acid (Gout Disease). All kinds of Diet and Obesity and also weight increase treatment for constitutional weight loss are provided.

Diabetology is the branch of medicine dedicated to the study and treatment of diabetes mellitus. A Diabetologist is an Endocrinologist who has received special training and experience in this field. We can not only diagnose, but also direct appropriate lab tests and treatment catered to individual needs of patients’ and monitor their progress to prevent long term complications.

Endocrinology is a sub-specialty within the field of internal medicine. Endocrinologists diagnose and treat diseases associated with internal glandular secretions or hormones. Included in this field are diseases of diabetes, the thyroid, cholesterol disorders, hypertension, osteoporosis, adrenal and pituitary glands, hormonal disorders causing infertility, low blood sugar, lack of development and low blood pressure and weight problems.

Regular Patient Care

Patients are seen at outpatient department as well as in inpatient department of the hospital on a regular basis. Patients are treated as per international guidelines with clinical judgment supported by necessary diagnostic back-up. Patients are supplied with necessary materials and advice on foot care, diet and lifestyle changes as per protocol. All patients are given Treatment Targets as per international guidelines.

All patients are screened for Microalbuminuria and Nephropathy. The Total Diabetes Package offered by the hospital is a simple and economical investigation and encompasses all baseline investigations necessary for a Diabetic patient as per international recommendations. For management of Diabetic complications, help of other departments like Ophthalmology, Nephrology, Neurology, Cardiology, General and Plastic Surgery and others are sought. A significant number of patients have improved by this co-coordinated multidisciplinary approach.

This Department is to use Continuous Glucose Monitoring System (CGMS) for monitoring and management of Glycemia. The new technology has shown significant advances as well as advantages in management of Glycernic profile of diabetic patients. The Department recognizes the need for advanced Foot Care program. At the present moment all high risk foot category of patients are advised plantar pressure studies and customized footwear wherever necessary. This work is being done in collaboration with a private organization at present.
