At Nidhi Hospital, we offer the Treadmill Test (TMT) as part of our comprehensive diagnostic services. This non-invasive test helps evaluate how your heart responds to physical activity and detects signs of coronary artery disease (CAD) or other heart-related conditions.
A TMT (also called a Cardiac Stress Test) involves walking on a treadmill while your heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG are continuously monitored. As the speed and incline of the treadmill increase, your heart works harder—helping doctors assess your heart’s performance under stress.
Your doctor may recommend a TMT if you experience:
Chest pain or discomfort
Shortness of breath on exertion
Irregular heartbeat or palpitations
Risk factors like diabetes, hypertension, or high cholesterol
The test helps:
Detect blocked arteries
Diagnose arrhythmias
Evaluate the effectiveness of cardiac treatments
Determine safe levels of exercise after a heart attack or surgery
The test typically takes 30-45 minutes, including preparation time. You'll be monitored throughout by trained staff to ensure your safety and comfort.
Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes.
Avoid heavy meals, smoking, or caffeine 2–3 hours before the test.
Inform your doctor about any ongoing medications.
Follow specific instructions if you're diabetic or on heart medications.
